Under the Wide and Starry Sky

搬家那天钥匙还得太早，运了一车回来在楼下就看见工人已经把我摊在桌上没来得及运和没来得及扔的东西装了垃圾袋往楼下拖了。打开垃圾袋一看，莎士比亚和食品袋、废铜烂铁交相辉映。再冲进房间里，只见那本廉价版圣经孤独地躺在桌上。

在图书馆突然一胖人搭讪：Where are you from?
我说中国然后他劈头盖脸地问：How do you like American food?
我想给他点面子，就说：I cook Chinese food in my apartment.
他恬不知耻地说：You need some American food! 然后爆料说他自己当过9年的厨子。
他又问：中文里面fat怎么说？我说胖，他就说，以后他开餐馆的名字就叫PANG…
我走时他抽下本书给我说：This is a book I want you to read. 我一看：Food in the USA. 他说，你要是在这书里看到什么好菜，I’ll cook for you.
我确定他没看过这书，因为导言第二页写着：two-thirds of the articles in this book are authored by cultural anthropologists and American studies scholars.

突然听说在dc订的旅店房间落空了，一阵恐慌...赶紧在google搜索输入hostel，第一个结果是人皮客栈，我想：那我也住!

然后我脑海里浮出一句话：George, could you let us stay at your place for a couple of nights?
